How do I get 3G network on my new iPhone?

  • My uncle gave me his old iPhone 3GS because he just recently got the new iPhone 4. However, my whole family uses verizon (and i already know i can't use Verizon!) but I was wondering if I could get AT&T's 3G network. If this involves a jailbreak or something else I do not care, I am simply looking for an easy way to get AT&T's 3G network on my iPhone running 4.0 without having to pay. (if it might be "illegal" that's fine)

It's not possible because AT&T uses GSM technology. The only phone companies in the US that use this is AT&T and T-Mobile. What this means is that they use sim cards. Even if you have Tmobile you will only be able to unlock the iPhone and use Tmobiles edge network because AT&T and tmobile have different radio frequency's, but it is not possible to use your verizon service with the phone at all nor the AT&T 3G network. Sorry :/

Can't use Verizon. It's physically impossible. Stop trying. You'll never do it. We don't help people with illegal stuff. Shut up and deal with it. Unlocking has never been illegal. Jailbreaking has never been illegal. It's just PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to use an iPhone on Verizon. Oh, and it's physically impossible to use T-Mobile's 3G, too, so if you want 3G in the U.S. you use AT&T or nothing at all.

No. You have to activate it on AT&T with a contract.

As far as i know that is impossible. Best you could do would be to use it to connect to a wifi whenever you are around one. Time to get into verizon. ATT network sucks Well aware you cant use a GSM phone on a CDMA network. Was saying to ditch the iphone for an android based verizon phone or somethign along those lines.
