How can I delete the music I downloaded from iTunes?

How do I transfer music into iTunes and my iPod?

  • I have thousands of songs on my laptop. I access them through Windows Media Player. Now I want to copy everything onto my iPod (for free), and consensus seems to be that I need to use iTunes. I told iTunes to add my music to its library. After about five hours of this, iTunes got through "J," but skipped a few songs here and there, and added a few songs past "J." Then iTunes declared that I'd run out of memory and stopped. I'm scared to delete any of the songs that have already been transferred, because iTunes isn't going in perfect order and I don't want to lose anything - but it doesn't make sense to have copies of my music taking up twice the computer memory. So I want all of my music in one place; to be able to sync my iPod without fear of losing any music; and to be able to occassionally save and delete on my iPod movies that I've downloaded onto my computer. If anyone could please tell me now only what to do, but HOW to do it - step by step - I will be grateful. Apple sucks.
