How does the Wi-Fi on the iPod touch work?

How can i get the wifi on my ipod touch to work?

  • i've done everything. i even resorted to exchanging my ipod for a new one. so here's the deal. i cant get it to connect to the server. this happens at all locked wifi i have been to. even with the password i cant get in, even next to the router. i have also tried changing the format that the password is in (wep, wpa, wpa2). so far nothing has worked. i cant figure out what is wrong. the password is right. it says its connected. but it just says "safari can't open the page because it can't find the server" help? if you need any more info on what the details say let me know

the way wifi works is youre at the wifi hotspot...you then type in that places website...for instant mcdonalds you would type in www.mcdonalds.com and look for the wifi options or wireless options you then have to follow the prompts because you basically have to let the server know where youre at that youre getting wifi from..then it gives you a list of all the internet providers...pick which one is yours then it will send you to that site...then put in YOUR actual name and password that you use for your internet provider...some internet providers like att wont let you use this option unless youre upgraded to a certain package...if you dont know your actual name and password for your home internet provider..call them
