Why doesn't audio system work on a low volume?

My ipod volume doesnt work?

i was putting my headphones in to go on the running machine whilst holding the little magnet thing to make the running machine work.. it litterally touched the back of my pod for a second... now te sliding bar at the bottom.. and the buttons on the side don't work when i try to change volume.. they work with headphones in but not on speaker.. is it the magnet.. if so what do i do? i no what can i do?

I'm sorry, but you NEVER touch a magnet to an electronic device. It can really mess it up. And I'm actually suprised only that was all that happened. Usually the whole thing would crash or something a little more fatal to the machine. Well anyways, you can take it to Apple, but if they fix it the warranty won't cover it. My best guess is you will have to live without built in speakers, which isn't terrible knowing how low the sound quality is.
