What will jailbreaking you ipod touch do?

  • after i jail break my ipod touch will i still be able to get software updates from apple, like the 3.0 software and also does it basically let you download all apps for free and customize it more than apple wants. i also know this voids your warranty, but i can restore it so they will never know. and is there a possibility of harming your ipod by jailbreaking it

    i think it lets you buy stuff for free. not like online an stuff but like off of itunes and stuff. and yeah they will know if you restore it and if it breaks then you cant do anything about it because it violates the concract or whatev its called that lets you get it fixed. warrenty maybe??

you're right, you can restore it. they'll know you restored it, but that's it. When you jailbreak, there's a method you have to use to upgrade your software on the ipod itself. As far as the rest of the software on your computer? doesn't matter. Do what you like. jailbroken will let you (after a bit of work) download free apps, new apps not in the app store, video game emulators, and customize the hell out of it. mine looks like this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/34894037@N06/sets/72157617611265371 jailbreaking basically just releases the chains apple puts on you. I download music and movies from my ipod, and browse the web with a full browser on it. none of that portable browser crap. The internet thinks I'm using firefox. And before anyone says it, no. You can't permanently break an ipod by jailbreaking it. That's a myth apple propagated to scare people away from doing so, since it removes any control they have over what you do.
