Should I replace my ipod touch 3g battery?

My ipod touch 3rd generation died a couple if a year ago and and I failed to restore it as every time when I tried, it would fail because it would switch off half way. Even putting it into safe mode took some effort I have found a replacement battery on ebay for £6 and don't know if it will work FYI, I am a uni student and therefore on a student budget so I don't feel like wasting money Can anyone help

you could try that but replacing the battery is extremely complicated and you need special tools. you also need to know exactly what you are doing
