Help! I can't transfer music to my MP3 player....?
-
I never had an MP3 player before so this is kind of new to me. I'm not sure how to transfer music files to my MP3 player. I hooked a usb from my MP3 player to my computer. I went to my computer and opened up the MP3 player icon (which was shown as a jump drive icon). I opened it up and saw the folder where I'm supposed to transfer all my music, I dragged some music files in but it says "you can transfer files in here because this folder is right protect (read only)." I tried to uncheck the "read only" on the folder but still wouldn't let me. I am really frustrated. How do I transfer a damb music file into my MP3 player?

Answer:
Are you using Windows Vista? Giving yourself permission to change things in Windows Vista is probably the most obnoxious task in existence. It's possible that Windows has decided that you do not have ownership of the folder and therefore won't let you change the permissions on it. A possible 2-step solution to this problem is to: 1) Make yourself the Owner of the folder (in the advanced settings on the Security tab) 2) Give yourself "full control" of the folder.

Windows media player is used in conjunction with an mp3 player. Your music should be stored in windows media player on your computer. Open up windows media player. Connect mp3 player to computer using usb cable. The name of your mp3 will show in the left hand pane. Drag and drop the music you want to transfer into the right hand pane. Click on sync and your music will be transferred. Anything coming up with a red exclamation mark next to it is write protected and you will not be able to transfer it.
go back to the jump drive icon and open up the folders list...create a new folder and call it music. transfer files to that folder.
It will really help us to know made and model of the player and the PC cause different players hook up differently with PC's, so please provide more details on the matter
