Recommendations for good headphones under $100?
-
I got a bunch of money for Christmas which was intended to go toward a pair of Beats, but I hate buying really expensive stuff like that, especially considering I break a lot of headphones and am just using them to listen to my iPod (though that sometimes means 6+ hours at a time). A year or two ago, I got some model from Auvio for like $20 from RadioShack. They looked great and sounded awesome (especially for the price) and were comfortable, but they broke after a few months. I went back for another pair to find they didn't make them any more. ): I bought a $60 Sony pair instead, without doing any research, and discovered they sounded like crap. That bad experience makes me hesitant to buy things without knowing a lot about them. So I've been researching things. I want decent sound quality (though I know I only get what I pay for) and a good look for under $100. I prefer on-ear headphones, since they sound better than earbuds without being overly bulky. Durability is also good, since I'd be taking them to school, though I know materials will be somewhat cheap in this price range. I've been looking at: Urbanears Plattan Plus Philips O'Neill SHO8800/28 (the durability of these concerns me though) WeSC Tambourine (though I haven't found as many reviews on these) I suppose I'm willing to sacrifice sound for style to an extent, but I'd definitely want something that sounds better than my $10-$15 earbuds. I mostly listen to rock (from lighter pop-rock to heavier metal) and electronic-sounding stuff (from some pop to heavier dubstep), if that makes a difference. Any suggestions, recommendations, personal experiences to share? Please & thanks. (:

Answer:
Please do yourself a favour and do NOT buy Turtle, JH, Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Ludacris/Soul, Koss, Skullcandy, Lady GaGa, Skullcrushers, Monsters nor Bose, because they are ALL seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), be them fake or not! If REAL quality is an issue, please go for REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica, Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Things like Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Philips are ONLY "okay-ish".
