Want to sell old vinyl records, need to know what to ask and which ones might be worth more money?

I have a bunch of old vinyl records that I want to get rid of and wanted to know what records are selling for nowadays. Also what are records that I should keep an eye out for, that might be worth more money? I'm thinking about taking them to a local music store that buys old records and cd's but am worried they wont be truthful if there IS anything of value in the lot.
