Downgrade iPod touch?

How can i downgrade my iPod touch software?

  • I have a 3rd Generation iPod touch 32GB. It's currently running on 4.3.1, but i want to downgrade it to 4.3 so i can jailbreak it (Untethered). I already downloaded the firmware from this website: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ but when i try to install it on my iPod, this message comes up: "The iPod "Will's iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)." Here's a picture of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shawster/5575252127/lightbox/ I'm assuming that iTunes is preventing me from doing this. So what I'm wondering is how can i get around this? Thank you for reading and thank for any help.

  • Answer:

Least Important Part: I don't believe you can really downgrade iPod touch software. There is one way I believe, but it's unlikely you'll be able to do it. If, miraculously, you haven't synced or backed up your iPod since you downloaded the update, and you DID back it up some time before updating that wasn't so far back that you've accumulated lots of apps/songs/videos since then- you COULD try restoring it than reverting to said back-up. If this sounds confusing to you, then don't even pursue it. I tried doing the same thing, thinking it would work, and I lost all of my data. Most Important Part: You may not even have to do this. I believe there is a way to jailbreak with 4.3.1, and if there isn't yet, there will be within the next month or so. iPad 2's have already been jailbroken, and they had 4.3.1 when they came out.
