Do apps for the iPhone work for the iPod touch?

I was on iTunes and noticed that the only categories for apps are iPhone and iPad. I'm getting an iPod touch, and I wanted to know if the apps for the iPhone were also for the iPod touch.

93% of them do, but like the calling ones you need wifi probably, but ones with mics need iPhone i think but im not sure if the new ipods have

Yes basically ever app in the app store will work for the iPod Touch. They are the same thing. Just with a few expections, example apps the use a mic or vibrate functions

pretty much every app works with the iPod touch... including (if you have a 4g iPod touch) ones that require a microphone to work
