Problems with Ford's SYNC?

IPod Sync Problems? Please Help me!?

  • I recently asked this but I didn't get very helpful answers. No spam please. I really need help and soon, cos I have to sort out my iPod. Thank you in advance. Hi. I have a problem with syncing my iPod touch. Updated to newest version. I have iTunes on an external hard-drive. When I want to remove songs from my ipod, it doesn't work but when I sync, I generally lose things I wanted to keep. I am given no warning. The memory it tells me I have in itunes on comp is always wrong. It has just removed some of my apps! They are in the recycle bin, but I never put them there! When I click restore, it tells me "G:/ refers to a location that is unavailable. .....blah blah blah...If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location" All I wanted to do, was put my new cd in my ipod. It seems like it is too much to ask. I don't know what to do. Also, I noticed itunes now opens, without my hard-drive connected, it didn't before. Some of my music on my ipod, is no longer listed in itunes, but I never did anything to that. For example, a few songs off a few albums are in itunes, but not the whole album, as on my ipod. I am worried it will remove them, even though it doesn't remove songs, I want it too. It is supposed to sync songs that are ticked. Please HELP! I am pretty clueless, when it comes to computers. Another thing, I have a playlist of my videos, so they play continuously, but they are still listed in videos. Are they taken up double the room? Can I delete them from videos folder on my ipod and still have them in the playlist? Thanks in advance. Sorry for throwing so much at you. Hope you can help :) Oh, and the reason iTunes on an external hard drive, is because the music is. Music would take up a lot of room otherwise, wouldn't it? :)

  • Answer:

I had also same problem as yours: I have 2 iPod 1 2nd gen and 1 4th gen I attemp to update to 4.2 or 4.2.1 rather and restore 5x I failed...iTunes can't detect my iPods since then temporary lost all saved so I can revert back to 4.1 safely I try this applicattion called "Tiny Umbrella" (Win/Linux/MacOSX compatible) this application saves/re/stores Ipod Signatures called SHSH Blobs created by Apple to your PC So I save my iPods SHSH Blobs thru Tiny Umbrella then I Update to 4.2.1 both and I successfully installed the update check it out it might help you

The reason it cant always find your hard drive is every time you plug it in the drive name may or may not be the same depending on what other stuff you have plugged into your computer
