Can you answer my iTunes question?

Can anyone answer this ITunes question?

  • Several months ago (don't ask me how) my daughter accidentally deleted my entire itunes library on my imac. Since then, I have created a new library, however the old songs still show up in the library and it is annoying. Is there a way to do a mass delete of them (they are inaccessible) or do I have to delete them one at a time?

  • Answer:

you're talking about when you move the original source that was imported into the library at first right? and when you try to play it, it has an ' ! ' saying it's unable to locate the file, would u like to locate it? unfortunately, i don't think there's a way to search through your whole library for these errors. the best way would be to delete (usually the first song if you have duplicates) is left click on it, hold CTRL to select another song (usually the first if u have duplicates) and keep selecting to mass delete it. hope this helps!

Other answers

it will make it a lot easier if you sort by the added date so you don't delete the songs that work in the library

Click the first song, hold shift and click the last song, it'll copy all those in between the first and last song. Or you could press ctrl + a, and it'll copy all the songs. Press delete!

i had the exact same problem- i'm affraid you have to delete them all one at a time by right clicking and then clicking 'delete' x

hit ctrl and a at hte same time then right click, hit delete. then upload all the songs you want in your library back into it.
