Jailbreaking ipod touch?

What are the benefits from Jailbreaking your iPod Touch? Also, what are the cons?

• Alright, I just bought my iPod Touch about a week ago. I would like to ask a few questions about Jailbreaking it. Questions: -Will it work the same with iTunes? -Will I be able to use iTunes to sync music, games, app's etc. -Above: Does it completely cut be off from apple? As in downloading things to the ipod etc. -Will everything on the Touch function as normal? -Is there ANY possible way this could completely ruin my iPod? -Are there different types of Jailbreaking? -What are the main benefits of Jailbreaking? -Are there any downsides? - Thanks!

  you can still use it with itunes and synk it fine! your i tunes will act the same everything on your touch will function normal but it might get a small bit slower. yes there is a way it could ruin your ipod.... but it is very hard to do you half to be a moron to brick it. bricking is when it is rendered compleetly usles and wont turn on.... but to make this happen you half to be stupid like while its in mid process rip it out of the com or close the aplication you are using. and even when you do that is willl ushaly justs say that it is in recovery mode witch means it will be fine once you restore it on itunes. there are different types of jaillbreaking... they almost all do the same thing extep for different computers and what kind of firmware you have. the benifits of jailbreaking are...... you can customize it. you get allot of apps that you would normaly pay for for free. you get more apps that are not on the app store... like one that lets you take vidio and one that lets you have a digital zoom. also you can ssh it witch means you can transfer files with your computer for it.... you can make your own apps. you have 2 more app stores. you can change the rules that apple builds into it... like make it function differently so you save more battery. other benifits are free music instead of itunes and there are many others in cool apps you would not normaly get. you also can make your own themes for it. downsides are.. it is a little slower. there can be problems like one of your apps dont work such as mail app. but you can esaly fix thoes. it voids your apple waranty so if it breaks they dont half to help you! but they ushaly do anyways. also if there is a problem after you jailbroke it and want to send it back just plug it into your computer and restore it. and wala you are no longer jailbroken and they ushaly cant tell that you ever have. other downsides are that you will be more inlove with it and never let it out of your site. other things you should be aware of is that you should not upgrade to the next software when they come out with it! because sometimes they have a thing that brickes you itouch when you upgrade! so first if you want to upgrade then dont click upgrade click restore! this will wipe the jailbreak off of it and upgrade your touch compleetly fine! then after you rejailbreak it. make sure you jailbreak it with a new softwear/ aplication made for that upgrade not the previous software. also you will want to know that some jailbreaking ways are better than others. for a mac the only reliable one is pwnage. for a pc or windows i have no idea because there are so many out there but make sure you do reserch befor using a windows aplication.
