Write an iPhone App without SDK?

• I'd like to write an iPhone app without paying for SDK. Maybe available to download from my website rather than the app store, if I can't put it on the app store without SDK. I was thinking I could do it completely independantly from apple, such that the .ipa file could be downloaded from my website and installed outside of iTunes, which I can take care of myself. All I'm asking is, how do you write an iPhone app without using Apple SDK???

  I don't think this is possible, I'm afraid. So far as I know there are 2 ways to get an app onto the iPhone - either via the app store, or if you have a big company you can offer it to customers direct (eg for if you have a specific branded app). But to do that you have to prove to apple that you employ more than 500 people. Other than that you may be able to do a little here and there if you can learn to program in Objective-C. You can probably figure out some of the API via different blogs etc. But I don't think you'll be able to distribute the app yourself. Because that is how Apple make their money ;-) If you just want to write apps, why not write for Android? They don't lock you in I think. Better karma :-) hope this helps!
