Why is my tv picture blue?

Why is the picture on my TV so much worse then before i got it fixed?

  • recently, my sony bravia kdl40EX400 LCD TV had an issue where after turning on the tv, the sony logo would appear and disappear as normal, but then the tv would shut off, then turn on again, logo appears and disappears again, then shut off again and it would cycle like that 3 times then turn off complelty and a flashing red light would appear, blinking in 6 blink intervals then stop, then blink 6 more times then stop, and continue to do this untill u turn the tv back on. I had a technician come and take a look at it. I wasnt home when the technician was there but whoever was at my house saw him fix it and told me all he did was "slip a disc inside the tv and it was fixed." But after turning it on the picture was terrible and he recomended to whoever was home that i get a box for the tv because the picture was so bad. When i turned it on the picture was aweful and thought i just had to reset the settings. After resetting the settings to the way i used to have it, the picture is still terrible. Before these problems, i had great picture. Anyone care to comment?

    Might I comment that Sony Bravia and other Sony models have a high incidence of failures lately, even fire hazards. Not the quality name they once were.!

If the technician had to make a change to something in a service menu to correct the original problem, it's likely that the picture settings were reset to factory default values. This is a normal consequence of working on modern TVs. The best thing to do now is have the set properly calibrated by an ISF-certified technician ($300 and up). The next best thing to do is buy a calibration disc (DVD or Blu-Ray, $20 to $50) and do it yourself. It won't be as good as an ISF calibration, but it is definitely less costly. If you do this, be sure to carefully and patiently follow the instructions included with the disc. I have "A Video Standard" on LaserDisc and "Video Essentials" on DVD.
