Does anyone know how to connect a 4 way outdoor aerial splitter to a Freeview tv tuner?

Does anyone know how to connect a 4 way outdoor aerial splitter to a Freeview tv tuner? I bought a 4 way external outdoor aerial splitter for Freeview Digital TV but I'm not to sure how to connect the In and Out F connectors of my splitter. I managed to connect the cable's connector to Out(1) on from the splitter to the cable attached to my Hauppauge TV tuner. But when i turn my tv on, I get a distorted picture. hen ry to doa channel scan, i get a message saying No Signal; which means my TV tuner is not being detected.

External splitter/amplifiers usually have a power supply which is installed inside the house and is connected to one of the aerial cables which is looped through it.

why do you want to use a 4 way splitter? 4way splitter is used for dividing signal by four. it has about 7-8 dB attenuation on UHF. if your antenna has more than 70 dBmicrovolt, you have enough signal level on four outputs. if below....you should use an amplifier.
