What is a good kids camera?

I'm looking for a digital camera for my 8 year old son. He loves taking pictures, but is too old for the "kiddie" cameras I see available. I'd like to get him one that is pretty durable, because at 8 years old, he's still not super careful with his things.

Even though he is very young, you are wise to steer away from toys. Please also stay away from garbage such as Kodak and Vivitar (just have a read here on YA how many people have problems with those ones!) Look for a cheap camera by Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, possibly even Sony, but make it a "real" one, otherwise YOU, too, will end up frustrated by it. If you can afford to spend a bit more, then look for the "sports" versions - there are some cameras that promise to be extra tough and durable, which could be worth it in his case.
