How To Crop Image For Green Card Online?

How do I crop an image but keep the image where it is full screen?

  • Everytime I crop the image, it comes out with either, black bars on the sides or on the top. I want to be able to crop a small portion of the photo out, however keep the quality because it is being inserted into a video. Please help! I am using a 14mp camera

  • Answer:

To avoid the bars, you have to crop the image to the exact same format as your video. If you are using an HD format at 16:9 aspect ratio, then you must crop your images with a 16:9 mask. If you crop in any other way, the image will require the bars to "pad" the remainder of the video frame. The same applies if you are using SD video at NTSC 4:3 aspect ratio. If the image crop is not 4:3, the image gets padded into the frame, which is those black bars.

The ratio of the area you want to crop down to needs to be the same ratio as your screen. This is usually either 4:3 or 16:9. In photoshop, you can type in exact size for your crop. What you do is, click on the crop tool, then you type in width 4 and height 3 (for 4:3) Draw your crop area and notice that now, the aspect ratio stays the same. Then you won't have black bars on the sides or on the top! ;)
