Why do I sound different on video camera or phone?

No sound on video playback on camera...help!?

  • I bought a Canon Powershot 1300 SD 1300 IS a few months ago. I really like it and everything was fine with it until a few weeks ago. When I first got the camera and took videos and played them back on the actual camera it played the sound back as well. However, now when I play back a video on the camera it self, it plays the video but I cannot hear ANY sound. When I upload the video to a computer, the sound DOES play. The camera is not on mute, and it does make sounds when I push buttons (like its supposed to), so I don't think the speaker is broken. Any suggestions of what to do? It kind of bothers me but if the video plays the sound when uploaded to a computer, it's probably not worth it to exchange it right?

    There is a slight chance that the sound circuitry is broken, but most likely you have set something to prevent it from playing back. Check your manual for possibilities. You can download a manual from Canon, if you need it. I don't care if my camera doesn't play sound, so I wouldn't exchange it.
