How do I import photos from my camera to my computer?

Photos from camera not importing onto computer?

So i just had a senior portrait shoot.. and i had a professional light kit and backdrop and everything but then after the shoot i went to import the photos onto my computer and it said the photos were not in the right format or something and could not be imported. then i checked my camera again and the pictures came up as like a black background and a yellow little question mark saying "cannot playback image" so i cant figure it out! i just took a random photo and imported that and it worked fine! is it possible that... My memory card is messed up? my micro cardreader is messed up? I shot in like a different format? Photos from a couple days before the upload still were on my camera until i tried to upload the photos then everything vanished! Please help a guy!
Answer:

It may be highly possible that you shot in RAW format. Use the camera's CD to install an application that recognizes and converts your camera's RAW files to something you can use like JPG.
