Is this a good budget video camera?

So I'm trying to buy a camera with good pictures and HD Video, ON A BUDGET?

  • I went to the PX, and I was stuck on the Samsung NV100HD digital camera. When I found out that it had 14.7 mega pixels AND HD Video for only $295.00-I was sold. BUT, the sales guy told me that mega pixels really don't mean anything unless you're gonna blow the picture up into like a poster or something. He said it's all about the optical zoom. So he directed me to the Sony® (DSC-HX1) 9MP Cyber-Shot® Compact Digital Camera w/ 20X Optical Super Zoom. $389.00, and it has HD Video. So the big question is, which one should I get? Or are there even better ones out there, that are $400.00 or less? Help me folks!! lol.
