Which is a better camera lens?

  • So I am wanting a bigger lens for my Nikon D3000 camera I am a hobby photographer an mostly take pics of sports such as football baseball and wrestling. I have a nikkor 55-200 that came with the camera but i need something that has a little more zoom for like football and baseball games that u cant get that close to. With that being said which lens would better for me a sigma or tamron because unforunlty i dont have the money to spend on a nikon lens. I want to eventually get one but I want a lens that can tie me over til then. I look foward to ur opinions!!

    There really is not a lot of difference between a 200mm and 300mm lens. Look at this website for comparison between focal lengths: Photography is a 2x world; everything in photography is based on x2 or x0.5 (double or half). Therefore, you have to double the 200mm lens to get a significant improvement. http://www.althephoto.com/concepts/lenses.php Compare the 200mm to 300mm to 400mm lengths from the website I referenced above, and see if that is not true. Nikon also has a nice zoom lens simulator to help you decide what focal length you may need: http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/simulator/index.htm
