A good camera for an amateur?

A good starting camera for an amateur Filmer/Photographer?

  • I'm thinking of getting a Canon, but lately I've been searching around more and I found a few camera's I like such as Minolta, Pentax, Contax, Olympus, etc. Well, I was wondering what you would suggest? Do older camera's such as Minolta & Pentax take video as well? Also, how do I transfer these photos onto my computer? I know that Canon can transfer over with just a cable, but I don't think Minolta or the other camera's I listed can do that. Or can they? Thanks for the information. I'm a bit confused and am still learning. What I'm REALLY wanting is a camera that takes photos as well as films videos. But, if I can't find that, I'm just hoping to find a good camera for taking professional pictures.

    If you want a camera that's main focus is photography I would probably go with a nikon or a canon. If you want to incorporate video into part of your dslr experience I would easily say go for canon
