What's the best digital camera?
-
I'm looking to buy a digital camera sometime soon, but I'm not sure what one would be best. Here's some key qualities I'd like - ~Being able to see the picture before it's taken (like dual-view) ~In camera editing (such as red eye removal and stuff) ~Relatively good sized screen ~Touch Screen (not exactly a must-have, but it'd probably be a nice bonus) ~Good quality/turn out of pictures (I want my pictures to look good, not sucky meaning blurry or stuff along those lines) ~Removable memory (I want to be able to hold pictures on a memory card and not have to delete them when I don't want to just because my camera's built-in memory is full) ~Good, quick speed (I don't want something that's going to take forever to load/take photos) ~Good quality of pictures no matter what the lighting (one that self-adjusts to, or has options to be adjusted to different lightings would be great so I'll always have a good picture turn out, even in not so perfect light) ~Indoor and outdoor usage (I don't want a camera that's JUST indoor or outdoor - I want to be able to use it safely in and out, and still get great quality pictures) ~Waterproof (not really a have to have, but it would be a rather nice feature I think) I know SamSung has a Dual-View camera that allows you to see the picture before you take it, but is this a good camera all it's cracked up to be and worth its cost? Are there any other brands of cameras out there that have this feature? So far, this is the only camera I've came across that has the nice dual-view feature. And is there anything else I should know? If so, please tell me when you leave your answer! Thanks very much for any/all help/tips/advice!

When shopping for products like this, it's always best to read reviews from people who've bought it, look at all it's features, and compare to other ones your interested in. You shouldn't choose a camera just because of a single feature. That could turn out to be an issue in the long run. The SamSung Dual-view cameras I've seen range from $150-$200. I don't think you want to waste that type of money. I also liked the fact that you could see the picture before you take it. It seems like an awesome feature, but they might of just added that to get people to buy it/be interested and/or to make up for some other feature(s) that isn't so great. The best thing to do would be make a list of your ideal camera (list features and stuff). Then go online to places like Walmart.com, Kmart.com and bestbuy.com and start browsing their digital camera section. Make notes of all the cameras you see that appeal to you, then look over your list of ideal features as your going over the reviews and info given on the site about that camera and compare. How well does the camera your interested in match up to your ideal camera? If there's only one or 2 matching qualities, I'd advise not settling on that one just yet. You want something that's good for taking self portraits or pictures of you and your pet? Well, you have other options if your camera doesn't allow you to see the picture first. You could always take one yourself then look at it and if it didn't turn out good, delete it and try again. If you want a good one but can't take one by yourself (sometimes posing with a pet requires both your hands so that they'll hold still and be comfortable), have someone else take the picture for you. Some cameras also have a playback mode... so that could be helpful too. Some also have a built-in video camera with them. So my advice to you would be NOT to get the camera your talking about just because of a certain key feature. You've even said yourself that your having doubts about it because you've seen some bad reviews. Maybe those people weren't doing something right or they just got a dub. I bet if something didn't work right or you got the wrong thing (if you ordered offline), the store would make it right with you. But if your having doubts, you shouldn't buy it. I'd advise that you keep shopping around. Good luck and I hope you get a great camera that'll fit your specific needs!

Samsung TL210 is $200 and has dual view screens. It's also got dual stabilisation, high ISO for low light, 5x zoom, HD video and loads of cool effects. ***********************EDIT***********… 1) Yes the dual view cameras come in different colours. The TL210 I've seen in black and violet at least. 2) Look at the review here for the cheaper PL150 http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/samsung_pl150_review/conclusion/ It was "highly recommended". Can't be all that bad then can it! 3) Contrary to what some would have you believe Samsung make some nice cameras. The GX10/20 DSLR was a joint venture with Pentax and had very favourable reviews when it came out. Also the new EX1 has an amazingly fast lens for a compact camera. What they're done with the dual view screen is give the consumers something different. I imagine it appeals to the younger crowd who like to do those Miley Cyrus duck-pout self shots for their social networking pages!
Only Samsung makes Dual View cameras. If you really think about it deeply, how come no other camera manufacturer try to copy that? When you get the answer, you wouldn't want to get such a camera.
THIS CAMARA IS SIMPLE "FANTASTIC" and I am trying to highlight it because I want you to know it. The front viewer is the main reason I bought it. When you are under the Eifel tower with your baby you want a picture of the tower but you also want to be included in the picture, always one of us has to left out. NOT ANYMORE. If you are a single mother, I am sure you want to be in the pictures with your son/daughter. GREAT way to do it. I turned on the shoot when smile feature and it just works beautifully. I will try to answer a couple of questions I saw people posted in other reviews. Yes the camara uses micro SD and someone thought that was a problem because of adapters. Not sure why because the camara comes with a USB cable that one plugs into the PC and voila all the pictures are copied to the PC and you don't have to anything else. It comes with Intelli-Studio software that it's very user friendly and allows you to do all the things that I normally did at Wallgreens kiosks like adding frames, text, turn into blank and white or sephia. You don't even need to install it. FANTASTIC is an understatement. The zoom is better than most camaras 4.6 is great and the quality of the pictures is superb. This is a camara for the casual user that likes to take pictures like a pro but doesn't have the time or the money to take classes. For the guy who goes to bars and want to take pictures and expect them to come out OK; I turned the lights off in my studio, pointed and shooted to my face and the picture came out perfect. This is something I will never do but if I ever need it, now I know I can do it. I want to close this with my most sincere congratulation to the engineering team at SAMSUNG. You guys know what you are doing. Keep up the good work !!! I still haven't take any video o played with all the features in the camara but in the time that I spent with it, I can only say "I am so glad I am taking it with me to Europe" 1-1/2" LCD on front makes it easy to put yourself in the shot 3" touchscreen LCD on the back for intuitive operation 12.2-megapixel effective recording Wide-angle Schneider lens with 4.6X optical zoom Dual Image Stabilization (optical and digital)
