Can you take pictures with the flip camera?

Can someone tell me if my Nikon D40 camera will take pictures on an autoset feature?

  • i dont know much about cameras at all im hoping someone that does could help me out it would be greatly appreciated...What im asking is can i set this camera which is a nikon d40 to a feature like the camera will take a picture every 5 mins, or 1 min, or 10 mins or any time and it will keep taking pictures for that setting until the camera either dies or is filled up? and the reason im asking is because im trying to make a time lapse camera and i heard of people doing that with a camera really similar to mine its just when i look i dont know what the hell im looking at lol...but please someone help me and thank you very much

    An intervalometer is what you are looking for. You need to tether your camera to a computer and use a program to control the camera. Nikon has Camera Control Pro which is expensive for what it does. There are a few free programs out there which may work.

The 6 Megapixel Nikon D40 is targeted for those who want a relatively compact and light camera yet having most of the important SLR features. The D40 is priced reasonably (cheaper than D50/D80 and Canon Rebel XTi). In my opinion, if you are still considering whether to get a point and shoot camera or a DSLR, the D40 will be a better choice than any point and shoot camera, by far, even those with 8MP or 10MP. But if you are already deciding to get a DSLR or you want more control of the picture taking experience, then I would recommend you to also test the D50 and/or D80 first before deciding to buy the D40.
