You can take a still while you are recording a video, see page 66 of your manual. Download your manual from here. http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0900011235/01/PSS2ISCUG-EN.pdf Also, many video apps on the computer will allow you to make a still from a frame of the video.
