What is a good camera for photos and videos? my limit is 500?

What is the best camera for capturing both videos and photos for under $500, in your opinion?

  • I'm very interested in photography and visual arts, ANd I've also been considering starting up a Youtube channel. So I need excellent video quality, and it should take decent photos too. I would just like some opinions from people who really know what they're talking about (: This is all most likely going to be a hobby for me, which is why I don't want to spend more than $500. Thank you in advance for any knowledge or advice (:

    Do you want do get a DSLR? the main difference between dslr and point and shoot types of camera;s is the interchangeable lenses . for a "point and shoot type i would go with a canon powershot SX30IS it has 720p video recording whichis HD just not full HD which is fine for a youtube video most youtube vids go up to 480p max I really recommend canon, the powershot SX30 IS has 14 mp 35x zoom (incredible really) costs $430 Correction: i know what im talking about im just typing quick and im tired. Where have you been doing your research to lead you to believe that you can find such a camera for under $500 that is not a simple P&S camera? The lowest price dSLR with those features cost just under $700. Those would be the Nikon D3100 and Canon T1i. For under $400, you can buy a P&S camera with those features, but the sensors will be over 15 times smaller, thus the individual sensors will be tiny, producing much lower quality photos and videos Look at cameras like the Nikon P500 with a 36x optical zoom lens to stay under your $500 budget
