Which DSLR camera is best for me?

  • I currently own a Nikon Coolpix L20, and I'm thinking of upgrading to a DSLR camera. I've never owned a DSLR camera before, and I'm kinda unsure of which one best suits me. I want to take more professional-looking photos. I need something sturdy, simple, compact(not a huge bulky camera, because I travel alot). You know, a camera for beginners. :) So what would you recommend?

    There aren't really any compact DSLRS. If a smaller DSLR is for you, then look into Olympus. The sensors are slightly smaller than other DSLRs and so the camera bodies are smaller as well. They will also be lighter in weight and are some of the least expensive DSLRs. Olympus also has some of the best weather sealing on their DSLRs (I don't own one so I'm not a fanboy, or girl, just trying to help. Sony also came out with new entry level models that are smaller and simpler than the rest of their models. The a230, a 330 and a380. But to really get a feel for which one is best for you, you need to try them out to see how they feel in your hands. And do a little research to see what differentiates each brand.

Are you sure you are ready for DSLR? Do you know how to identify lenses based on their aperture and zoom range? DSLR requires investment in lenses if you want better quality images (although the kit lens are good to start with).
