What is the cheapest manual film camera?

What camera should I get? (Film SLR, DSLR...?)?

  • I'm trying to keep my budget as far under $699.99 as possible, while getting a good camera that takes high-quality photos. I'm taking a photography class next year that will require the use of a film SLR camera, though my school will provide them. If I continue with the photography courses, I will have to get a film SLR camera (35 mm) for the following year. I have my doubts about getting a film camera at the same time, so I don't know if a DSLR would be better or more difficult. So basically, I need an easy-enough-to-use camera that takes good pictures with great detail for portraiture and vibrant colors for foliage, sunsets, and landscapes under $699.99 if possible. Any suggestions? Be specific with brands and models because I want to start doing some more research on them. Also, if you have a really good camera that fits the preferences that I'm looking for, feel free to post a link to a Flickr or other photo account that has some of your photography taken with that camera.     You are going to take photography classes next year and the school will provide you with a film SLR. Great! Keep your money until such time you are required to use a dSLR. Maybe when that time comes, you would have saved enough to buy a Hasselblad!

dslrs are nice because you can easily upload them to the computer and such. but for some schools they teach students how to use a dark room and that comes in handy for a film camera. Film cameras also i think anyways pick up light alot better and capture emotion better. any canon or nikon would be ideal.
