Good cameras for filming skateboarding?

What camera/ camcorder would be good for filming skateboarding edits?

  • I've started filming skateboarding edits and now I'm thinking about starting filming at college, however i don't know what camera to buy suitable for filming skateboarding. A friend who is a real good at filming says i should buy a cannon 50D, but i would like to hear some more opinions. Also the camera or camcorder and etc must be able to fit a fisheye lens on it and the lens can't be over £100.

  • Answer:

If you want to do filming of these things you're going to need some very expensive gear. Either 16mm or 35mm film stock will suit. But, to shoot 35mm, you'll need a camera that normally sells for about $70,000. Then there's lights, tripod, crew and a lot more. You'll have at least $100,000 invested before you shoot your first frame. Camcorder? These don't do film they record video. Since it's pretty obvious you don't know your terms, perhaps a little education would help you before you spend serious money on a camera that you know nothing about... as in a 50D doing film?
