How do i make faces not so bright when i take a picture?

  • I have a samsung st61 and i took pictures on holiday. faces were fine and brown. the only setting i have changed is contrast one more plus. but i got a new camer the same one and sometimes all the faces come out so white. how do i change this so its not sooooo bright our faces.

You can step back until you get the right color you want. If your camera has EV control, move it to the minux side until you get it right. If the flash is still too strong, put a white handkerchief over the flash to tone it down.

I'm not convinced that flash makes pictures better. I bought a fairly inexpensive 50mm f1.8 lens for my Nikon and I never need the flash. I set it on P, adjust the ISO accordingly and the photos are just so more natural, especially with portraits. The problem with all zoom lenses is that they are so slow in getting the light through, a flash is mandatory in low light.

Use a light diffuser, either buy one or use an old film case, one of those kinda opaque white ones and put it over the flash.
