Why won't my camera import my photos to my computer?

I have a Canon Powershot SD1200 IS and everytime I plug it into my laptop, and little icon pops up asking if I want to import the photos. This time when I plugged it in, nothing popped up! I tried unplugging the USB cord and plugging it back in and still nothing.

there must be be a problem in the usb chord. Try using a different chord it might work.

This is gonna sound simple, make sure the battery in the camera is charged, then turned on. Sounds simple but I had same issue.
When i connect my camera (the same as yours) it takes a while for the computer to identify or recognize the camera if i have a lot of photos on my SD card. i usually have 1800+ pictures on my SD card at a time and i sometimes don't remove them off my camera for up to one year... I decided to delete a lot of the photos and videos off the SD card for space and hope it would speed up the time for the computer to communicate with the camera, and that's what it did.... depending on the type of SD card you have speeds of communication or recognizing can vary; try to be patient. make sure you have the camera turned on when you connect it to the computer, and that the little green light is blinking and the screen is off when the light is blinking, and be patient.
