Canon GL2 vs. Sony HDR-FX7?

Sony vs. Nikon vs. Canon vs. all other brands?

  • I'm looking for a good digital camera! What is commonly referred to as a "point and shoot" camera I guess. I want a compact digital camera that will fit in a pocket or bag easily. Price range? Around $200 or LESS. Highest- $240 Mp? 16 or 14. Preferably 16 though. Zoom? 7x or higher. 10 would be nice. -I love Sony's cameras because of the wonderful panarama sweep option. -I love Nikon's cameras because of the amazing color options that come on the camera...(Nikon coolpix s6100 has the ability to change the colors anywhere from neon to a gray scale; the option comes up when the camera is turned on) -Canon's cameras get wonderful reviews, like the brands above. I've done quite a bit of shopping online and looked at some cameras in stores. I'm wondering what everyone suggests as far as brands, and if you have any suggestions based on my price range/preferred mp/zoom etc. I've seen cameras from Sony, Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Olympus, Samsung, Casio, Fujifilm, GE, Kodak, and Pentax online....Who's are the best? Do you suggest a touchscreen? Is there a camera made with the color options of Nikon, the sweep options of Sony, and the great reviews of Canon?

Take a look on this website. Generally if the camera brand is NOT listed, it is a generic camera, something to avoid. http://www.dpreview.com/ If you want a pocket size camera, the optical zoom range will be reduced to about 5x If you want a "bridge" camera, look for one with at least a 30x optical zoom. Pixel counts of over 12 mp on such a small sensor can reduce the quality of your images More on pixels http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm

Are you a pro printing large images? No? Then forget about megapixel. The most important features in cameras now a days are the zoom and low light performance. I recommend Canon every day over anything based on their durability (as a child I had them and beat the crap out of them; they lasted forever,) picture quality, ease of use and functionality. For a small pocket camera I'd say get the Canon 100HS. It's down to $149.99 which is less than what I paid for it a few months ago. It's a totally capable camera but with only 4x zoom. You NEED zoom? You have feet. If you go to the zoo a lot then get the Canon 310/510/150. More money, more zoom.

nikon s9100 (240 on amazon) s8100 (its not the newest s8xxx but its cheap) casio has the ex-h30, samsung wb700, sony hx9v etc.

You will be fine with any of the 3. Canon and Nikon are the top camera producers. Sony comes in third and not by much. Steer clear of Kodak completely. Panasonic has some nice stuff and so does SOME of the olympus, fuji and pentax. You can always be confident in the top 3. If you find another you really like, read the reviews on it.

The Canon 5096B001 PowerShot ELPH 300 HS Black 12MP Digital Camera with 5x Zoom and 2.7 In. LCD Display has a slim profile that will not only make you stand out from the crowd, but it will also deliver incredibly brilliant still images and amazing 1080p HD videos. Once you turn on the camera, be prepared to be amazed at how much is packed into one of the slimmest point-and-shoot digital cameras on the market. So let your imagination run free and let the HS SYSTEM, 24mm 5x Optical Zoom and 12.1 Megapixels help you achieve great images everywhere.http://oifaik.notlong.com

Cuddeback and Moultrie. Both brands are leaders in the industry, counting many loyal hunters as customers. Cuddeback offers exceptionally fast trigger speeds, so you can be sure to get photos of actual animals, instead of empty scenery because the camera cannot be triggered quickly enough. Moultrie, a company that first made its mark with revolutionary deer feeder designs, brings its expertise to its own line of trail cameras. Moultrie trail cameras offer exceptionally useful information imprints for the hunter, including the standard date and time, but also moon phases, location, and the temperature outside when the picture was taken.
