Telephoto lense? i need HELP?

  • I currently have a nikon d3000 with a 18-55mm lense. it is good but the zoom is very poor. im thinking of purchasing this lense: http://www.amazon.com/TELEPHOTO-CAMERAS-THIS-DIRECTLY-FOLLOWING-55-200mm/dp/B003V1AY5G 1.is this a good lense? since it's only $18? 2.is the lense all i need? do i need something else to attatch the lense to my current one? 3.will the quality of my images be the same? 4. what exactly will this lense do? (doesnt it just increase the zoom?) 5. is it good for sports? I am a teenager and I want to take good pictures of my friends playing sports, is this a good investment?

  • Answer:

Poor or not, that add-on is a piece junk and a waste of good money When you say that the zoom is very poor, my guess is you mean that the fine 18-55 mm lens does not have the range you need to shoot sports. That is right. Shooting sports is an expensive hobby. The minimum lens you need to do that, even with your excellent D3000, the AF-S 55-300 mm Nikkor lens, about $400. The lens I use is a 300 mm f/2.8 prime lens. It costs over $6,000. See what I mean? In addition to your inexperience shooting sports, it seems that you have not ever attended a photo class. Such a class will introduce you to a lot of good information that will help you understand at least the fundamentals of photography

You don't have to spend $6,000 to shoot sports. But you do have to spend some money. In your case, it will cost you $200-$250 to get any sort of reach (zoom is what you would call it) for those pictures. You have 3 choices at that price... the Nikon 55-200 f/3.5-5.6, the Nikon 55-200 f/3.5-5.6 VR (same lens with Vibration Reduction, what Nikon calls their version of an image stabilizer) and the Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro. The two Nikon lenses will autofocus, the Sigma will not. Not actually a big deal shooting daylight sports. You will see several other lenses around this price, even the Nikon 75-300 G F/4-5.6, but the Sigma is actually better. If you have more money to spend, you can get better lenses. If you don't, then these will do the job.

no, thats not a real telephotolens for a nikon dlsr, buy the nikon brnad or a third party brand, go on amazon and search telephoto lens for nikon dslrs

This a little wide angle that attaches to the lenses named. Usually these things are junk. You can search here for the real lens - it'll most likely be around two hundred dollars.

You really do get what you pay for when it comes to a lens, and this one is not even a real lens.

1. You get exactly what you pay for. 2. If you know exactly what you are doing, the kit lens can be the only lens you will ever need. 3. Image quality depends on you. The camera and lens are just tools. 4. That is an add-on lens that will make your existing lens make far objects seem closer but degrade picture quality a lot. 5.
