Which DSLR camera is the best?
-
Im getting a new DSLR camera for Christmas this year. I will be taking photography lessons and go the whole 9 yards with photography, but im having trouble picking a camera. I was thinking either a Nikon D3100, a Canon Rebel t1i, or a Canon t3. Which camera would be the best for a beginning photographer? Thanks!

Answer:
Here is how those three cameras sensors compare, head to head http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cameras/Compare-Camera-Sensors/Compare-cameras-side-by-side/(appareil1)/693%7C0/(brand)/Canon/(appareil2)/664%7C0/(brand2)/Nikon/(appareil3)/586%7C0/(brand3)/Canon As you can see, the Nikon D3100 slightly out performs the other two cameras In addition, the Nikon D3100 has a "Guide Mode" that helps the new user step by step how to use its features all on the camera

How much can you afford? Just select the most expensive you can get with your budget. All dSLR's are basically the same no matter what brand or model. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_PRICE_2%7C1&ci=16734&N=4259332394 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_PRICE_2%7C0&ci=6222&N=4291645407&srtclk=sort Since this is your first time, I strongly advise you get a camera with a lens. Ignore those that say "Body only". If you want to get the most out of your money at the cheapest level, go for the Pentax K-r that comes with two kit lenses.

The T1i is 2 years old and has one of the noisiest sensors Canon has ever made. T2i is better but more expensive. The T3 is new, but is positioned at the lowest rank. D3100 is best for the price performance. And all have the same quality, so don't think one brand would make images nicer or sharper ;) Here's a DSLR Buying Guide - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/11/which-dslr-to-buy/

I shoot a Rebel XS and a t1i and I really enjoy the both - excellent stills and video on the t1i.

keerok's right. Those models are pretty much a wash. If your budget can stretch to something like the Nikon D5100 or D90, then that would be better again. I'm a Nikon user so I'm biased :)

Nikon D3100 all the way.
