98 honda prelude help?

Honda Prelude 1998 type SH 5speed ?

  • im a little new to the honda game, i just bought a 98 prelude sh with 190,000 on the body and 120 on the motor... before i bought it the car was fine but after 2 weeks it started blowing white smoke... every one said it was the head gasket but that wasn't the case, basically i have to get a whole engine swap, does it have to be the same exact engine? why is the SH more expensive for swaps? what engine can i fit in there if not the same one i have (h22a4)?..any help is appreciated.

  • Answer:

You don't HAVE to get the same motor. Any H series motor will fit fine as long as its OBD2(from a car 1996 or newer)And the SH stands for super handling im pretty sure. It's just a system that put torque to the outside wheel when cornering. But I don't see why that would cost more to swap the motor...all in all, an H series motor will be your easiest route because all the motor mounts will fit right and you already have the ECU and wire harness. And if your gonna scrap ur old H22 send it to me!!!! Haha
