How to remove 2001 honda civic shocks, struts?

I need help working on my Honda Civic!!?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX Coup. I was told i need new struts in the front, but i just read shocks and struts are different. so what does my type of car need, new shocks or new struts??? i have no idea. The front passenger side makes a loud popping noise if im driving on a rough surface or hit any bumps. Also if im turning left it makes a wierd scratching sound. Can anyone who knows cars help me out???

well if the mechanic or whoever told you need struts, THAN GET STRUTS, have it inspected for free, (most shops do this) and then get whatever THEY TELL YOU... not that hard.. and yes they are different things

it can also be your brakes that are scratching the drums so new brake pads and make the drums smooths or buy a new one
