Where is the v6 vectra ecu?

2001 mustang v6 ... problem with ecu? or just the sensor itself?

  • So my car didn't pass emissions... took it to a friend at a shop... the check engine light said it was a temperature sensor near the firewall. He pulled the sensor and said the value never changed on the computer for the sensor when he did that and the sensor always read 41 degrees. He said it could be a computer problem. It is $150 at the dealership to just diagnose the problem. Just wanna make sure my money is going to the right cause. Does this sound like an ecu needing replaced or what? If is ecu could u buy a used and do it yourself?

Disconnecting the battery for a short period of time is supposed to clear the codes. I would disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour or so then check the codes again. And yes you can buy a used ECU from a junk yard.
