How to set timing on a 94 honda civic?

How do ai set Timing Chain on 94 mustang gt 5.0. i?

  • I put new cam in and the timing is off im sure it's the chain. Wht do i line up when i do the cam sprocket to crank shaft. Are there marks?!?! And im not taken heads back off for TDC

  • Answer:

You don't need to remove the heads to find TDC. Pull the number one spark plug and place a piece of paper over the hole. Don't push it in to the hole. Slowly turn the engine over and when the paper blows out, that will be close. Then manually turn the crankshaft bolt until you can feel the piston start downward Using a screw driver placed in the hole. Hold the screw driver straight into the hole so as not to damage the piston. If you feel any resistance at all STOP do not use force as you may damage the piston. Back off until the piston comes up. That will be TDC. Also the pointer on the crankshaft should point to Zero. The distributer pointer inside the cap should be pointing toward the number one plug wire. To set the crank and the cam there will be a small mark on the gears. You place the cam gear at the bottom toward the crank gear and the mark on the crank gear on top toward the cam gear. line both marks together. I would strongly advise you go to a parts store and purchase a Haynes repair manual for that car.
