Boyfriend didn't even buy me a birthday card?

• So it was my birthday the other day and my boyfriend didn't even buy me a birthday card? He wished me happy birthday when he saw me but it was at my party and he spent most of the evening with his friends. (Which happens at all parties if I'm honest) He's a sweet guy, I wouldn't say a complete a** hole which is why I'm not sure how to feel about this. There are a lot of niggly things like this but I feel guilty for getting upset over them. He was going to buy me a ticket to a concert for my birthday but then I ended up buying his ticket as he didn't have all the money on him at the time so in effect he didn't really buy me a present. I was just curious about other people's thoughts on this? Am I being pathetic?

  It's obvious you are being taken advantage of. Saying he's a sweet guy and not a complete you know what means you are searching for hope that there may be things about him that will make him worth keeping. The sweet act is something a guy will use to keep you hanging on. If you give in to things like buying him concert tickets if he says he's out of money, he will continually find ways to get things out of you. Don't play games with your own mind. I'm sorry, but I would either dump the irresponsible punk right away, or if you want to give him a chance then do it while putting your foot down and don't give in to anything. One of two things will happen. He will either get lost when he can't have things his way or he will learn to respect you if he really cares. Either way you'll save yourself valuable time and a lot of grief. You put him through the test. Don't let him keep testing you to see how much you'll put up with. He will only disappoint you worse later on.
