What is a political tea party?

I don't understand what these political tea party's are?

  • Are they just for Republicans? Are they like a let's get motivated meeting.? Why are they called "Tea Party's"? and what is there function?

    They are for any person of any party that has grown frustrated with ever increasing taxes, government and federal debt. The name comes from the Boston Tea party where colonists were increasingly angry at Englands taxation and bullying of the Colonies. In protest they dumped tons of English Tea into Boston Harbor. Just like the people who were against the Vietnam war formed protests and organizations to voice their objection to the war, Tea Party people voice their objection against ever expanding Government. There is no single controlling entity, just a collection of people and organizations who have the same frustration. I've been to one here in Massachusetts and it was just regular people, who love America and want less Government in their lives.

The name "Tea Party" came from a grass roots rebellion against England before the Revolution. We the people did not want taxation without representation. That means that we, the people, did not want England stealing all of our wealth, in the form of taxes; without us having some say about it. Today the Tea Party is saying much the same thing. We, the people want to know that those who are taking our money are at least listening to us, and considering our wants and needs. We the people no longer believe this administration cares what we want or need. We the people believe that this administration thinks of us as "stupid" and unable to know what is best for us. Since we the people make the money, we don't take to kindly to being treated like we are stupid. Now do you get it?
