What have you sold on Craigslist?

I sold an item on Craigslist as a 27' tv, but it was a 19' and the person is mad; what do i do?

  • So i sold my Zenith tv; i didnt know it was a 19 inch tv; i was told it was a 27; well the person came to my house and bought it and got home and has called me twice and emailed me. Saying " we have a major problem; the tv advertised was 27 in but it really is only 19 inch." I dont know what to do. i called back but they didnt pick up; can they do anything legally or is it protected by Craigslist? I already spent the money and dont know what to do? please help :(

    you should pay back the difference. tell the guy you spent it but you're really sorry and will work with him to pay the difference.

You have a problem...you better work out a compromise or you may go to jail or be sued and you will lose that

well he should have measured it himself prior to taking it. Not like he ordered it straight to his house without seeing it first. You can change your ad on craigslist and erase 27 and put 19 or you can just delete the ad all together. Dont worry about it, if it was a huge deal the guy should have noticed it prior to taking it home. Most likely they wont do anything, if anything write them back in an email just stating it was sold "as is" .and sorry that he didnt measure it prior to taking it back home

One thing is for sure, you are not protected by Craigslist. In fact, legally, you've indemnified Craigslist from anything you posted on their site. I think if you try to be nice about it and work out a deal everything should be OK. Legally, there is no bill of sale (unless you actually made one), so there is no proof you sold them the TV, and thus no basis for a lawsuit. Ian Drake http://www.notifywire.com
