How do i join a teamsters union?

I am a pipeliner and work for my dad alot my dad is a higher up foreman and sometimes assistant superintendent soon i will be going to work with him and i have to have a laborers book i have heard stories that teamsters is the premiere laborers union and would love to buy a book from them but i dont know how to do it or who to contact or where to get it how how to? if someone can help me with this it would be great if its not possible i can get a book out of a place close to home but i really wanna be a teamster.

Sounds like you want a building trades union. Look up LIUNA, that's the laborer's union. Their website should show you the nearest local.

You can contact the teamsters through their website then they will file a petition for a vote at your place of employment and if a majority of people at your work vote to be represented by the union they will hammer out a deal with management and then you and your co-workers will vote to accept the deal or not.
