What was the Beer Hall or Munich Putsch?

Are liberals aware that Hitler had a beer hall putsch?

  • Much like Obamas beer summit

  • Answer:

Wow. No, seriously, that may be the most desperate, ridiculous, pathetic attempt to link Obama to Hitler that I've ever seen. It really takes a willful ignorance of history to even try to make that comparison. Here, some facts. Don't worry, I'll be gentle. "Putsch" is the German word for coup. The "Beer Hall Putsch was an abortive and rather comic attempt by the Kampfbun to seize the Bavarian government on November 9th, 1923. Hitler and about 600 followers marched to the Bürgerbräukeller, Munich's largest beer hall, where a political rally was taking place. Hitler burst in, took over, and actually rallied the large crowd to his side. He had, however, no real plan of what to do next, and had forgotten that the commander of the German military in Munich was an old school aristocrat who loathed him. So while Hitler and his newly found follower marched to the center of Munich, the Army rallied and Hitler fled after a confrontation with police led to shots being fired. Hitler was found, arrested, and wrote Mein Kampf in prison. Hijinks followed. Obama likes to have a beer and talk with people. Ghods, conservatives are morons.
