How do postage stamps work?

How do postage stamps work/ where do I get them?

  • So I don't really know anything about postage stamps but I need to send a letter to Cuba. So I was wondering how I go about getting appropriate stamps to put on said letter? Also, will price vary based upon the size of the envelope/ weight of letter? Is there a website I can go to to find out exactly what type of stamp to use? Thanks and have a magical day!

  • Answer:

US? Postage pays the cost of mailing an item. Rates are determine first by weight, and then in some cases, by dimensions. A flat regular sized (#10) envelope with one or two sheets of paper in it, will be less than an ounce - which costs .92c to mail internationally. (In the US, it's 44c) Rates will be going up later in January. Cuba does have more restrictions on parcels than most other countries - parcels contain things that you can buy or sell, not just letters: http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/ce_017.htm the USPS has it's own website: http://ircalc.usps.gov/ It's a very large site - here's the home page: https://www.usps.com/welcome.htm

Funniest question ever. I also live in Canada. Take your package to a post office. Yes. Post Office. Canada Post. Ask the nice or snarling man or woman, "How much to Cuba?" Don't say, "I'm taking this post office to Cuba." It's so Seventies.
