Where does the butterfly get its name from?

Where can I get some sort of a transition document for a name change I've done overseas?

  • What happened was, a couple months ago I was in Hong Kong and I would like to get my name changed so I went getting a deed poll (done according to HK law, though), took it to a U.S. Consulate and used it as a proof to get my name in the Social Security records changed. The staff there told me my deed poll, albeit a foreign one, was sufficient enough to be of use even when I get back to the States. Now I'm back to the U.S. and I feel it would still be more convenient if I have a local instead of a foreign transition document (like a court order done by the U.S. court) in hand. I don't think I should just simply get another deed poll since this is an action that's already committed. Now the question is, where exactly should I go inquire for one? Thank you!

  • Answer:

The staff at the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong might be the ones to contact to see if they could email or fax you a copy or whatever they have on hand at their offices, they might even have a web page of their own where you could request copies or something.
