Is, "Bilingual education" a good topic for my persuasive speech?

How does education help third world countries?

  • I am doing a persuasive speech [7-9 min] in class and I decided I wanted to delve into donating to organizations that build schools in countries that have a mass amount of people lacking in education. I didn't realize how....complicated..this subject could be. I decided to pin point it to a small organization-Pencils for Promise and why they should donate to this organization. I feel as though I should expand on how education can help the society in these countries outside of expanding these children's minds. But this topic has just become so beyond me..especially since Ive never looked into it before. I would love some insight and possibly some helpful resources, to help make my point convincing, from people who actually know about this. I was thinking that maybe education could help decrease violence? Maybe it can help improve economies and decrease poverty? I just don't know how to simplify the benefits of education or where to find solid resources to prove this. Please, I really need help. I'm stressing and am seriously overwhelmed.
