Why are politicians in Washington DC so unconcerned about no 100% made in USA manufactured goods in U.S.stores?

They are concerned. You know why goods are made overseas, its because they outcompete us for labor. We can't ignore the fact that labor overseas is dirt cheap. American workers would want a good wage; why would any manufacturer pay that wage when they can get the same quality work done cheaper? If someone in the US wants to buy cheap goods made overseas because they are more affordable to them, who has the right to say "you can't do that"? Free trade has its downsides, for us it is the loss of many jobs, but the benefits far outweight the detriments, so many more people have access to cheaper goods than people losing jobs. "I think its a matter of fact as well that a country that makes nothing or mostly nothing is not a good thing" Obviously, but the US does not make nothing. In fact, manufacturing output in this country continually rises every year. This happens all the while manufacturing jobs decline. How is this possible? American manufacturing is realized through automation, machines manufacture everything. The problem is that American labor is too expensive. That is the root cause of our jobs going overseas. The solution for politicians is to tell Americans so stop asking so much for their labor; none of them will, to do so is political suicide and would be perceived as a slap on the face by the average citizen.

American Conservatives are very concerned. Politicians in Washington DC from Both parties are not Conservative. Many are working hard to move your assets out of the USA and to third world nations to help the needy there. You have too much. Give it away. If yo don't, Washington DC will take it away by whatever means possible. In their minds, it is only fair. (Especially if they can gain more despotic and elitist authority and power in the process.) We need a Conservative Party. Us Conservatives have No representation in Washington DC. Taxation without representation is Tyranny! Lets have Another Tea Party!

Because there is nothing they can do to stop it or fix it. It's all about economics. You can pay some union worker $20 an hour + Benefits to make this stuff, or some person in China $2 an hour with no benefits. What can the politicians do? Slap tariffs on consumer goods? That still doesn't help American manufacturers sell their goods to the rest of the world. And it only invites a trade war. If we do that, China starts slapping taxes on the stuff we do sell over there, like software, movies, etc. BTW, that's why I can buy a 50" plasma TV for $1,200 vs $2,500 bucks if made in America.

In 1961 JFK, a Liberal by current standards and a Democratic President published a prison report. It detailed the statistics on who was being murdered by our court system and for how long the courts had been murdering innocent people without trials and etc. We get our phone calls today, when we get them cause after Reagan they don't always allow phone calls, largely because of this report. We get the right of Haebius Corpus (sic) largely from this report ~ yes I know this shouldn't be so, but when you are allowed Haebius Corpus by a court it ain't cause a prison report in 1961 refused to document it was not largely used to save lives from 1776 ~ 1960, when it could have. Instead, the report showed it was almost never used. and that 75% of the dead from overwork on chain gangs and illegal, unconstitutional prison labor work programs had never had a trail or EVEN HAD BEEN ACCUSED OF A SERIOUS OFFENSE. The average life expectancy in 1961 was documented as being LESS than two years. The average sentence ~ functionally forever, because though the average sentence was 6 MONTHS the courts almost never let anyone out ~ INSTEAD THEY WOULD SIMPLY "FIND" THE GUILTY (OF CIVIL CRIMES) HAD NOT WORKED HARD ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR RELEASE FROM A 6 MONTH SENTENCE OF HARD LABOR. It is as if EVERY court in the land agreed : those who haven't $5 to their names (the majority conviction in these cases was vagrancy ~ by a whopping majority) would rather not work so much that they would willingly stay where the food was "free and reliable" rather than leave the chain gang alive, knowing as they must have in the first few days fellow prisoners were dying off quick ~ OF STARVATION and other DEPRIVATIONS. Liberals, as many will will note have run this country since Ronald Wilson Reagan gained control again in 1980, and began to reinstate chain gangs as a way of DEATH in America. This is not however because those noting are sane, but quite the opposite. No, conserfative communism runs the USA since Reagan. This is Communism defined as: the State controlling the means of production RATHER than the free enterprise system, wherein except in rare instances for public safety does the State interfere with the individuals right to produce goods for sale FREELY, outside of a state run labor program from a PRISON as many ~ more than at any time in history ~ "earn" a living today. We "owe" 246 times our GDP to communist countries for goods they have made off prison labor. We have no idea, cause the GOP and other conserfative communists will not document, like JFK did, and other Liberals did until the Ron Reagan Communist "No We Ain't Gotta Tell You Simpleton's Diddly" Cause Communists Don't Say Anything They Don't Want To Or Allow Others To Tell Either" Revolution. That since Reagan they have run up 12.5 + times what all other governments did in terms of FEDERAL DEBT doesn't tell you anything. It should, but you've got your head buried not in the sand, but way up some-body's posterior. That mental health care / de@dbeat daddy laws crippled the Unions by gradually making it a crime for most unionized workers to strike you don't get. That mental health care / de@dbeat daddy laws prevent all competition with neo-conserfative communists HERE by allowing them to go to neo-comnserfative courts and ask for "mental health care treatment" in secret doesn't bother you. That this granted protection from the rhetorically tax kleptomaniac Liberal both causes kiddies to happen as that court protection is in the form of date rape drugs to treat a nonexistent mental defect doesn't reach your brain washed ears. AND then divorces happen as night follows day AND THEN LOSS OF BUSINESS RIGHTS FOR SAID LIBERAL COMPETITION, well that hasn't crawled its way into your political unconsciousness either. See? It takes longer than two minutes to state well enough for you to understand the RHETORICALLY "legal" AND SECRET maneuverings of OUR COLLECTIVE THREAT ~ THE NEO-CONSERFATIVE COMMUNIST. And yet, such unconsciousness is the bleak future of the USA, AS IT HAS BEEN OUR PAST 30 YEAR HISTORY. Of course, politicians don't care that China makes the goods. THEY DON'T. They relabel the goods sent them by US Prison Labor Programs in order to keep simple minded people from "getting it". The politicians don't work for us since REAGAN, they work for the Communists.

Because it would be political suicide. Do you know how much money this would cost? Our economy would be in ruins. We would see a sharp rise in poverty and inflation in the US. This would not bring us more jobs, companies would either find better ways to make things cheaper (with the labor they have), reduce the quality, or simply raise prices, but not wages. Look at how the economy works, jobs go overseas simply because technology makes it profitable. In truth, we actually profit as consumers by this. There are lots of products made in the US, why? Because it is cheaper than getting them from overseas. It is that simple.

That's a lie as there are indeed products available that are 100% made in the USA. Heck I was even shocked to see a "made in the USA" label on the back of my new Pioneer Kuro TV. Granted in that case I'm sure some of the parts come from around the world, but at least it is manufactured in a US based facility. Secondly, the consumer (that would be us) has the ultimate control on such matters. It's us who choose to purchase those products from other countries. That's what creates the demand for cheap imported goods which stores adjust their sales lineup in order to meet our demands. If consumers instead chose to save more money and purchase only US made products, the retailers would adjust their product lines to meet that demand. They don't import dirt cheap Chinese junk because it's cheap. They do it because it's what consumers demand by way of their spending habits.

There's no doubt that all of our trade policies have to be changed, but this is much easier said than done. Trans national corporations now own, control or influence ALL world wide trade. In real life there are no 'small business'. All business depends on supplies and materials that they can only acquire from 'big business'. These corporations now directly or indirectly control most of the wealth in the world and as we all know, money talks and bull #$%^ walks. Corporations, those entities that we all found out were 'too big to fail' managed to get down to almost zero taxes and to moved off shore where bribes to local governments allowed them to manufacture with zero regard to work conditions or environmental issues. Worse, the imported trash from these countries are sold for about the same price as if they were made in the USA with union labor.....the profit margin is much higher....that's why they do it. The consumer gets no breaks with these so-called 'Everyday Low Prices'. Meanwhile the great sucking sound that Ross Perot spoke of goes on. The jobs are gone, our wealth is gone and our future is gone unless 'our' government admits that these policies have totally $%^&ed this country. Oddly, only the GOP could turn this around. If a democrat spoke up about it he'd be blasted as a 'socialist', or communist by the right wing radio dummies. That's no excuse for not doing it, but so far, not a god damned peep! The idea that ANY republican these days would stand up for the American working class is science fiction, so no help there. The only future here is when the US consumer is totally broke and foreign manufacture falls because there's no consumption. At that point this world wide Monopoly game will end as will the few remaining corporations...after that you can look forward to a new economic and political 'dark age'. Or, we can demand that this economic death dive cease. Maybe Sarah Palin can lead the charge...yeah...right!
