Where can i rent a longboard skateboard?

Skateboard, old school skateboard, mini cruiser, or longboard?

  • i just want something which i can easily travel to college with. I've never ridden an old school skateboard or a mini cruiser. i figured a skateboard wouldn't be really practical for traveling coz its pretty noisy and rough. and while a longboard is smooth, it's heavy. any suggestions or tips? or any OTHER means of easy transport? (besides these and bicycle)

    You might want to check out Santa Cruz, Sector Nine or Original Skateboards for a small cruiser to get around campus in. At my college Sector 9 seems to be the most popular mostly because they are nice compact boards that work pretty well for getting around. If it was up to me I would go with something like the Derringer 28 by Original. It is not much longer than a regular skateboard and is pretty light. In addition it's spring system makes it great for making sharp turns and pumping. Slap some nice Orangatang wheels on there and you will have a nice commuter board. Longboards and mini boards are the way to go in means of transportation.

I use my longboard to get around campus. A 33" longboard is a great option. Look at the Earthwing Miniglider or Frequent Flyer. They are both amazing decks designed as a commuter in NYC. They are designed with a nice kicktail in the back to jump curbs and have nice wheel wells for big soft wheels. Many people use Arbor or Sector 9 decks, but honestly they are not great decks. They are widely available but not as good as a true longboards for a skateshop.
